The ResQ Fund provides financial assistance to pet owners and rescues for spay/neuter and routine veterinary care for cats, dogs and other domestic animals.
Additionally, when available, we offer help for pets in life-threatening situations through the ResQ Fund's "Live for David" grant program for pet owners struggling financially. This program is currently only available to pet owners and rescues in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Funds are very limited at this time. Please see list below of other organizations that may be able to assist you with emergency care. We also advise you to contact low-cost clinics to see if they can perform surgeries at a lower rate. Ask about payment plan options using Care Credit, ScratchPay, or Varidi.

Individuals seeking help through the ResQ Fund or for a "Live for David" grant will need to apply using the application links posted below. Applicants are required to show proof of financial need and a history of responsible pet ownership. Additionally, all applicants must show that they have already applied and been denied for Care Credit. Please note: contributions are never paid directly to individuals. The ResQ Fund will only send funds directly to the treating veterinarians. Funding for this program is limited. Preference is given to applicants seeking to use funds for spay/neuter and vaccines.
If an applicant needs transportation assistance to receive veterinary care, they may also apply for help through The ResQ Shuttle program which provides transportation to veterinary clinics for pet owners and rescues. All transporters are volunteers. Requests will be answered based on the availability of our volunteer drivers. Please send a transportation request to resqshuttle@gmail.com.
Once an application is received and reviewed, the ResQ Fund program manager will determine the amount of the grant for the applicant. For spay and neuter, the applicant may be asked to contribute a portion of the cost. If funding is available through the WV Spay and Neuter Assistance program, the cost of spay/neuter and rabies vaccines will be covered through this program while funds last.
For veterinary medical emergencies or other urgent treatments, funds may be available through the "Live for David" grant program. Grants under this program are currently capped at a $250 maximum award per pet. If medical costs exceed $250 and the pet owner cannot afford to treat their pet, To the ResQ may be able to help pet owners raise additional funds through a ResQ Fund Plea on Facebook. In extreme cases, the pet owner may be advised to surrender the pet to a rescue in order to save its life. Please also apply to all of the appropriate assistance programs listed at the top of this page.
In the unfortunate event of a serious illness or injury, additional funds may be available to allow pet owners to peacefully and humanely end their beloved pet's suffering. At this time, unfortunately, funds may not be used for private cremation services.
NOTE: We have a huge backlog of requests. Please be patient as we work to catch up. For local low-cost clinic options within 30-45 minutes of the eastern panhandle, please visit www.apromise.org , www.fiftyshadesoffurr.org, or www.veterinarycommunityoutreach.com.
