The ResQ Pantry

The ResQ Pantry provides assistance to struggling families who need help buying pet food and other items required to sustain their pet’s health. The goal of this program is to prevent the need for owner surrenders of pets due to financial hardship. This service is available primarily for community members in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Rescues and fosters may also apply for assistance. 

Individuals seeking help through the ResQ Pantry are required to fill out a registration form (one time only) before any assistance can be considered.  Requestors should apply using the application link posted below. Applicants may be required to show financial need and/or a history of responsible pet ownership. Please be aware that the brands available through the ResQ Pantry may be different than what the applicant is currently using. 

Key requirements to determine eligibility for the ResQ Pantry program include: 

1. The recipient must prove financial need or hardship. Documentation may be required.
2. The recipient must be 18 years of age or older. 
3. Pets must be for companionship and not for breeding or illegal activities.
4. All pets must be spayed/neutered.  If not, To the ResQ can help with assistance for spaying or neutering. 
5. Pets must be living in a healthy environment and good living conditions, preferably primarily indoors. If outside, there must be adequate housing and protection from the elements. Assistance is available for outdoor cat colonies. 
6. ResQ Pantry program recipients must agree not to take on any additional pets while receiving assistance.
7. The recipient should understand that the donated pet food and supplies may not always be the current brand used. Every attempt to accommodate your pet's special dietary needs will be made when possible. 
8. The recipient must agree not to hold The ResQ Pantry, To the ResQ, or any of its volunteers and benefactors legally liable in the unfortunate event your pet(s) become ill or have issues related to the food change or use of any donated items. 
9. The recipients must agree not to resell, redistribute or attempt to return to a store, any food or care items received from the ResQ Pantry. 
10. The recipient will provide us with a photo of the pets in need of assistance.

There is no cost for donated food and goods for approved applicants for the ResQ Pantry. If our supporters would like to donate food or items to help us with the ResQ Pantry program, please visit our Amazon Wish List or donate using the button on our home page.
